Abstract

This research focuses on sentencing through education and/or reading from a human rights perspective, pointing to the importance of Brazilian research in this area. The methodology is bibliographical in nature and data was collected from the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) using the descriptors “remição de pena” AND “educação”, in which 6 dissertations and 3 theses were found for the last 10 years. An analysis of the above-mentioned research shows that the remission of sentences through reading does not necessarily have an absolute impact on the prisoner's criminal life, but it does have a significant impact on the subject's life and human rights, thus demonstrating the importance of interdisciplinary research to address the remission of sentences through education in the light of human rights.
