Abstract

This text is part of the work plan whose title is “XXXXX”. At this stage we are focusing our reflections on the “implementation of public policies for education: law 10.639/03 and the fight against racism” as part of the results. The research is qualitative in nature and uses documentary analysis procedures from the field of law and education. It analyzes the implementation of laws 10,639/03 and 11,645/08 as a Public Policy to combat racism in basic education. This specific objective is in direct dialogue with the general objective, which is, to explain, understand and analyze the socialization of childhoods tangential to ethnic and “racial” tensions in the formative contexts of early childhood education centers in the city of Três Lagoas-MS. We start from the thesis of thinking about the effectiveness of laws enacted with the aim of making the teaching of Afro-descendant and indigenous culture compulsory in Brazilian public and private basic education institutions, in order to affirm that the laws were created with the aim of combating racial discrimination and promoting knowledge and appreciation of the identity of African and indigenous history and culture. However, there are limitations in terms of training for the application of laws due to the lack of training and inadequate teaching material (textbooks).
