Abstract

This article aims at analyzing the Theory of Multifocal Intelligence, proposed by Brazilian author Augusto Jorge Cury, to analyze its byproduct, Escola da Inteligência, through the concepts of Cultural Industry and Halbbildung. This is an exploratory and bibliographic qualitative research which relies on Theodor W. Adorno's constellation thinking as a method. Initially, the concept of Multifocal Intelligence Theory is defined using the homonymous book to locate the foundations of Escola da Inteligência. Next, we map the products and packages/services offered by Escola da Inteligência based on the eight tabs that make up its website. Then, an analysis of the proposals of Escola da Inteligência is developed in light of the Critical Theory of Society to discuss the following axes: (de)forming potential of teaching activities; the promise of appeasement, conformation and discipline of students; education as a product of the Cultural Industry. Finally, some theoretical-critical reflections are made on conceptions of school, teaching and curriculum in relation to the use of educational packages such as Escola da Inteligência.
