Spatial dynamics of ageing in large urban agglomerations

Abstract

This paper discuss the relationship between population ageing and migratory movements, analyzing from a spatial dynamics of population in large urban agglomerations, using the case study of the Metropolitan Region of Vitória (RMGV). We use the microdata from the Demographic Census of 2010 to analyze this relationship, in addition to the population forecast of 2018 and the preview of the 2022 Demographic Census to point out future perspectives. As result, We show that the spatial dynamics of ageing in large urban agglomerations is heterogeneous, having as a differentiating element until now the average income of the population and the historical process of urban development, with a tendency to change due to the acceleration of ageing in progress.
