Abstract

The Care Network for People with Disabilities was developed to promote care for people with disabilities at any point in the care network of the Unified Health System, creating in 2013 the Specialized Rehabilitation Services. The aim of this study was to evaluate the access of people with disabilities to a Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER) in southern Brazil. This is a cross-sectional study conducted with all individuals assisted at the CER between April and June 2019. A questionnaire with sociodemographic information, access, referral flow and perception of the quality of care was applied. Descriptive analyzes were carried out, through the presentation of absolute (n) and relative (%) frequencies and measures of central tendency (mean or mediated) and dispersion (standard deviation or interquartile range). 88 individuals were interviewed. Most sought the CER for therapeutic care (94.3%) and were referred by primary health care (71.6%). The waiting time between referral and reception at the CER was 25 days and 89.8% reported difficulty in transporting them to the CER. These results are important to improve the care provided by the CER and demonstrate the crucial role of SUS principles in rehabilitation and functional recovery.
