CASOS DE HANSENÍASE NOTIFICADOS EM MENORES DE 15 ANOS EM BACABAL-MA

Abstract

Objective: to describe cases of leprosy in children under 15 reported in the city of Bacabal-MA. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, retrospective study with a quantitative approach of notified cases of Leprosy, residents of Bacabal-MA, notified in the National Notifiable Diseases System (SINAN), from 2008 to 2017. Results: There was a record of 119 cases of leprosy with hyperendemic detection rates in the population under 15 years of age in 2008, 2011 and 2013, predominantly female (51.3%), age group: 10 to 14 years (68.9%), black (41.2%), Complete Elementary School (79.8%), residents of the urban area (79%), notified by primary care (56.3%). The most frequent clinical and therapeutic findings were: operational classification: Multibacillary (62.2%); clinical forms: borderline (47.9%) and tuberculoid (30.3%); single lesion (63%); without affected nerves (68.1%); degree of disability zero (63%); bacilloscopy not performed (52.9%) and therapeutic scheme 12 doses (62.2%). Type of entry predominated: new case (86.6%); output mode: cure (84.9%) and detection mode: spontaneous demand (39.5%). Conclusion: Leprosy is endemic in the cases analyzed in Bacabal-MA, which reflects the need for greater health surveillance actions in the active search for early detection of cases in the population under 15 years old.
